2007 Pittsburgh Pirates Sign Feierer to One Year Deal

Pittsburgh, PA (AP) -- Ever true to his M.O. of not wanting to wear out his welcome with any one team, Gary Feierer has signed a one year deal to manage the 2007 Pittsburgh Pirates for the upcoming baseball season.  Gary wishes to thank Don Zimmer (seajaw) for selecting the magic number that pointed him to his new assignment.  There will be a press conference on Thursday to introduce the skipper to his new ball club.

This is going to be one tough challenge. Seajaw owes you one after this.

I owe him one? disbelief

It was a blind draw.  I had no idea what I was getting into.  I didn't even know he was picking next season's replay.

I don't even know what other choices there were on his list. confuse

It's not like he said, "Do you think I should manager the 1927 Yankees...or the 2007 Pirates?".

The one thing he may have going for him, is the big bopper home run era is over. I just don't see any strengths at all here. I mean it isn't like the White Sox replay where the pitching was similar to 1910 numbers, or the Dodger replay where he beat teams into submission.

Hahahaha!!  Anyone want to put in their order for season tickets?  At least we will play in a beautiful ball park!  I may need to tap rollsox for some insights.  He has a great Pittsburgh Pirates mind...

Maybe do what the Rockies tried a few years ago, have the starters going three innings, then mix and match like mad, most likely you will have a 12 man staff..........

I have not had a chance to look real closely at the team yet.  We have some hitting and some power.  No pitching and I do not know what kind of fielders we will have.  I also want to check out how well we bunt and hit and run, although small ball may not be an option with this pitching staff.  Your idea of three innings for each starter is interesting.  Did it work at all when the Rockies tried it?

They actually did this............not so much 3 innings, but their starters were on a 60 pitch limit.........their problem was half their games are in Coors Field, which isn't conducive to any success really.......
