I have sent a note into Activeboard requesting assistance with this issue.  The few times I have had to interact with them they have been terrific.

Here is the response I received from Activeboards.com:

Taking a look at thread, the two posts I see where the formatting is a
little "off" are suffering from two different issues. In the post by
nacster at Fri Dec 17 1:19 AM, 2010, the contents of the table have all
ended up inside of a single cell. In the post by jdeszcz at Sat Dec 18
1:01 AM, 2010, a table hasn't been used (they likely turned off the
Advanced Editor).

Essentially, you should be able to insert already formatted text using
the table method described in the topic by nacster. If, on the other
hand, you have the table formatted in HTML (e.g. <table><tr><td>),
turning off the Advanced Editor and pasting the code into the simple
editor should work. You can of course use the preview function, or turn
the Advanced Editor back on to see this.

If you would like me to test further, please send a sample of the kind
of files being pasted from to me and I would be happy to take a look.

(I would like 1 or 2 individuals to volunteer to send me a file that I will pass
onto Tech Support. Please contact me, Tall Tactician, by PM.)

Hey TT, I figured out for my postings that the key is getting a file I can open in my browser and C&P from there.  My boxscores are all .txt files from Ballscore/Ballstat which, anything that is a table of stats (eg my series stats for the ALDS and NLDS in my 2009 Postseason Replay thread) is a report that I've created in Ballscore/Ballstat and saved as an HTML file.  Either way both formats are able to be opened in my browser.  Once I have them open in my browser I simply select all, copy and then paste in the message box here.  I do have the "Use Advanced Editor" box checked, but I don't do anything as far as inserting a table or similar.  In of the HTML files for statistics I'm able to edit those in my message like editing a table/spreadsheet as that's basically what has been C&P'd.  The boxscores I've posted are direct copies of a .txt file opened in my browser, then C&P'd so editing is a bit more labor intensive, but really only need to delete some empty rows to get formatting from double spaced to single spaced.

Received this note from Activeboards. Nitrous and Clutch, try this and let me know if it works for you.

Actually, looking at the thread again it almost sounds as though what
you might be looking for is a way to directly edit the HTML from the
Advanced Editor, rather than switching back and forth from the simple
style. If preferable, you can also accomplish this by using the icon
marked "HTML" in the Advanced Editor.

Please let me know if you have any further questions. I'll keep an eye
out for an email in our support inbox. :)

Strat-O-Matic Report

Thanks Nitrous for sending me this HTML report.  What a great game!  Here is how I posted it without cutting and pasting in word:

1.  Opened the file with Firefox.

2.  Under view, select page source

3.  Selected the entire page and copied it.

4.  Went to SOMers and replied to this thread.

5.  Used advanced editor and selected HTML button between the full justification button an the eraser (remove formatting button) on the top row.

6.  Pasted the entire source code and clicked on the update button on the bottom left hand side which took me back to the advanced editor.  Please note that in the advanced editor, the columns did not look lined up, but if you push show preview, you'll see that they do lineup.  The only funkiness is the additional row between Gaetti and Brunasky.

7.  After viewing, I submitted the post.

Try this and let me know how it works for you.

Perfection was achieved in Oakland as Bert Blyleven(11-7) mesmerized the crowd

while retiring every Oakland A's batter, resulting in a 1 to nothing
victory.

Blyleven had an afternoon to remember. The Minnesota players and coaches
started to leave Blyleven alone with his thoughts after the game reached the
7th inning. By the time the 9th inning rolled around, you could hear a pin
drop every time he went to his wind-up - and an explosion after every out.
Blyleven chalked up 10 strikeouts. Oakland went down quietly in the bottom
of the 9th.

Dennis Lamp(0-3) ended up with the loss. He pitched 6 and 1/3 innings giving
up only 3 hits and 1 walk. Blyleven was in a jubilant mood after the game.
'If I'd known I was going to throw a no hitter I would have gotten a
haircut!' he said, much to the delight of the clubhouse gathering.

Method #2 for posting:

1. Open file using Firefox
2. Copied the report directly in the browser (without viewing the code)
3. Pasted the report directly into the advanced editor. Again, the columns did not look lined up until I showed the preview.
4. Submitted the post. (not only easier, but looks better than copying the source code).

I tested these techniques using Explorer and Safari and achieved the same result.  Hopefully, this will reduce the number of steps required to post box scores and statistics.

Again, test this and let me know if it works for you.

Mark that is what I figured out. The secret is in

1. Open file using Firefox

I could not get things to format properly via a direct copy and paste from the game reports until I opened the html file in my browser and then a copy and paste works fine.

Just a quick note/tip on posting boxscores, tables, etc for those that might be interested.  When I post a boxscore it comes across with a lot of double spacing, not sure why, and it seems to be happening to a lot of people. Well, somehow I lucked onto it, but once I have posted if I go to that post and click the 'More' button and select 'Edit' I don't do anything, but click the 'Submit Post' button and it tidies up the boxscore/table into a single spaced format.  To me it makes it look cleaner and easier to read, not to mention the overall post gets cut in half.

I knew that webpages could look different depending on the type of browsers you use, but I thought it had more to do with overall page design and how it handles frames and sidebars, etc.

But I was surprised when I looked at SOMers in Safari.  Threads with Box Scores did not lineup properly.

In Firefox, they look perfectly aligned.

I then looked it in Explorer, and the columns do line up there.

I looked at using Opera mini on my Blackberry and the columns linedup there as well.

I guess not all browsers interpret HTML the same.  If you use a browser not mentioned here, let me know what your experience is like.

Really? I haven's seen any difference in Explorer on my laptop or Safari on our iMac?

Ugh

Now I can't copy text from MS Word into this site using internet explorer. It keeps asking me to allow access to the clipboard. I don't have the HTML files for one of my projects. This is what I get after I allow access.
