Nitrous, ColavitoFan, Nacster & others:

IMPORTANT RESPONSE FROM ACTIVEBOARD:

You are correct - The package we use for our advanced editor was updated
over the weekend to solve a slew of problems we'd been encountering
between it and Internet Explorer 9.

Without the original documents being used to paste from, it's a little
hard to say what the issue is now (although I did notice that the
"Insert Table" functionality no longer works in Google Chrome). If you
could attach or email ( will@sparklit.com ) any example documents over,
I should at the very least be able to find a "new" way to paste it all
in properly.

That being said, in the next day or so when our latest changes make it
to out, I've added another button on the right of the third bar: "Paste
from Word". I'm not sure if it will work for your forum's purposes, but
it just might; Keep an eye out for it.

Cheers,

Will

The problem of the Advanced Editor has not been fixed to my satisfaction.  I continue to press Activeboard on this issue.  My apologies for the difficulties you are facing.  Hopefully, they will get this resolved shortly.

Thanks.........I have gotten around it a bit, as you can see by my 1957 postings, but it wasn't like it was before.

From Activeboards:

Hi Mark, sorry about all that.  Another developer here was trying to solve some *other* issues with the new editor, and I think that's where the new BBCode thing came from.  I'm meeting with him in a few minutes to see what we can do about all of this.

I received a document from Brian yesterday and had it pasting properly after changing some hidden settings, but I need to see how this might affect other ActiveBoards first.  I do hope to get all this solved, but dropping IE9 support is an impossibility when considering the number of people who use ActiveBoard.

Apologies it's hitting your community hardest.

As a side note, I noticed that when using Firefox and IE, toggling the "Paste as Plain Text" seemed to paste everything in properly.  Not in Chrome though.  TinyMCE, the advanced editor, is billed as being a cross-browser Rich Text Editor. Believe me when I say this is frustrating on our end too, for what it's worth.

Keep me posted of anything else you find, I'll try to keep you up to date on our progress here.

Cheers,

-Willem

Um, hate to break the bad news but paste as plain text does NOT work with Firefox on my end--nothing lines up properly at all using that feature.

I suspect that if you knew which hidden codes needed to be changed you would have been able to do it successfully.  I am hoping that they develop a solution which makes life much easier.

The latest from Activeboard:

Hey Guys, we've been working all day on this and are making progress, but there's still more to be done.

We'd really like to get it done before the weekend, so hopefully you'll hear from me tomorrow.
Cheers,

I sent some of my files to active board.  Hope it helps.  I have been holding off on posting until this gets fixed.  I cannot afford the time to keep re-editing.

I noticed that I can again copy and paste a text boxscore file opened in Firefox with no problems. The text aligns properly and there is no additional line added at the end of each line. I assume Activeboard is still working on the html file issue as I had no luck attempting a paste of an html file--but at least the text files are working again at the present time.

Another Important Update from Activeboard:

Hey again guys,

Closer still, but it looks like monday should be the day.  Another developer pushed some other changes out again relating to the editor, which don't affect what I'm working on for you guys, but you may notice some more differences.  Hopefully they're not too disruptive.  Thanks for the documents I've been receiving.
Cheers and have a good weekend,
-Willem

Important Message From Activeboard:

Hi there,

New files have just hit our production servers, and the various documents I've been provided are all pasting properly for me;  Simply copy and paste right from the document into the comment box, no fancy steps necessary.
Part of the solution involved creating a new custom theme for your forum with rules for MS-Office related formatting, which will have to be carried over if you ever change themes.
Let me know if anything else comes up.  Like I said it all looks good from my end, but because of various browser issues I'll be holding my breath until I hear some good news back.
Thanks for all your patience,
-Willem

The editor seems to be working like it did before last week's hiccup. It still does not like too many tables embedded in a Word document - but it never did. I can live with this.
