I think Clutch's idea is a good one.

It might be interesting also to see how a SOMers league compared to the real life results.

Based on discussions with Seajaw and Baseball Jeff and the comments received in this thread, we have made some changes to the categories:

1.  We moved Seajaw's "Re-Integration" thread into the Ken Burns Baseball History section.

2.  We combined the "Whose on First", "Charles Comiskey Folklore Center", and "Hall of Fame Collections" into the Mel Allen Collections, Travel, Arts & Entertainment Center.

3.  We created a non-baseball section with the "Harry Caray Steakhouse & Lounge" forum with two subforums:  "Open Mike" and "Other Stratomatic Games".  You can find the "Justice has been served" thread here.

We are still discussing Clutch's idea.  We are a little concerned about the practicality of it (maybe quarterly and semi-annually is more realistic).

We hope this improves your experience on SOMers.  Let us know what you think.

Clutch and Stratfan70, we are still talking about your idea about providing updates on the active leagues in one location.  You had some very specific thoughts about what should be included.  Could you provide a sample or a model from your current active leagues?  It would be helpful to us as we continue to think about this.

Give me a few days and I will try to give a sample of what I was thinking.

I'll do something over the long weekend TT. It was really just an idea off the top of my head. Perhaps inpractical. I WILL throw together a mini 'mock up' post here sometime this weekend tho.

I put this together in 20 minutes. I only did the ones on the 1st page of recent posts. I know there are many more.

36 past seasons teams tournament-'71Bruins-thru 3 rounds. '69Bal, '70Bal, '69Min lead at 6-0. 4 losses and out.

1969 Seattle Pilots Season Replay-GaryNJH-Seattle 18-22, St. Louis Cardinels 29-13 best record. Going 162 I believe.

1957 Replay Blog-nacster-New York Yankees v Milwaukee Braves in WS. Go Braves!

1971 replay-Stratfan70-Division leaders...Baltimore,Oakland,Pittsburgh,San Fransisco. All with nice leads. 20 sum games to go in regular 162 game season.

1948 Season-Full C&D Replay-ColavitoFan-thru about 16 games. Yankees 12-4 Brooklyn 13-7. Tight races early.

Sweet16-HOF'ers,Heros and Current Players-whitesoxstrat-Bear Mountain Massacres-Champions. WTG Bear Mountain!

1979 Pirates Replay-banny-Pirates 11-10 early.

1911 70 game season-stargel8-thru 26 games New York Yankees 19-7, Boston Braves 19-7. That is the Braves right?

So...something like that. Took 15 minutes to type up and 20 minutes to research. I think less is more with the 'skinney' tho I could see cleaning it up and perhaps adding a bit. Once a month maybe more maybe never. It's no problem if ya'll don't run with it. Just a brainstorming idea I had one day.

Clutch, I am glad you posted this.  It is different than what I thought you were requesting.

This is sort of what I had in mind.  I used my 1965 Replay for illustration purposes.

I used top 5 just for demo purposes and more categories can be added and pitchers can be and would be included.

This can be adjusted or adapted to any replay including short seasons one like Seajaw's and Stargell8.

This idea is not set in stone and would welcome any ideas that would improve on this.

I'm glad to have made it clear. Nothing like an example to help that out. Just an idea tho not a request. Maybe a good one maybe not...

I think I was also talking about a project I want to do one day where I cross refrence winners from the same year replays. I was stating how I don't have time for that right now but sorta hoping someone else may really.

Stratfan70, thanks for posting.  I love the real life to SOM comparisons.  But I think those have to come from the thread authors, themselves.  It would be way too much work for one or two people to compile on a regular basis.  It would certainly be a nice wrap up at the end of a project.

TT,

Thanks for reviewing my idea. I agree it could be a full time job for one or two people to do considering all the projects going on in this site. But, I think after my replay is completed I might do a real life vs SOM comparison for the top performers.

Stratfan70, that would be terrific. I'm sure you will set a standard that everyone will appreciate.

A SOMers Momentous Occasion!

Last night (3/18/15) at 5:02 PM, this site set a new record for most users.

I joined this site about 2 1/2 weeks ago and have really enjoyed it. I am rediscovering STRAT after many years away. And this site has piqued my interest again. When I last played, the computer version was not around. So, the computer aspect of STRAT is really fascinating.

I enjoy reading through the replays and projects. I admire the detail and historical info that is provided. It takes me back to a time of my childhood memories/icons and the "simpler" ideals of the game. It will take a while for me just to get caught up on all the info that is already been produced.

Also, since I joined, The number of members has risen by 10-12. This seems like a good increase in such a short period. Looking forward to following along and participating when time allows. Great site!

While I miss playing the game with C&D as I did as a child, for me the computer game is easier to maintain.  As I have gotten older, reading the charts and cards would absolutely kill my eyes, not to mention having all that stuff around my fairly small apartment.  And my 10-year old would have a field day spilling stuff on them!

Plus, it would be literally impossible to try to accomplish my bucket list goal of replaying every season in history.
