Looks and sounds like a lot of fun! That's what this game is all about, having fun, and if you have good friends to play the games with, so much the better!

I know there are many more gamers out this way.  It would be so-o-o-o-o much fun to organize a Summer SOM tourney.

I'd also love to see what guys in other parts of the country can come up with.  We have a thread ("Where are we?") that I started a few months back, hoping to find out if other SOMers members are close enough to each other to make arrangements.

Hopefully, our fun and games can motivate the rest of the group...

We had a second SOM Holiday get-together after Christmas, this past holiday season.  This was the second year in a row we've gathered at Stratfan70's house.

SOMersNWwWolfman0001.jpgForgive the lateness of this posting, but it took me a while to get the pics back, then (finally) figure out the method for doing a photo insertion, in the manner of Markfranthony's great 1994 season replay thread (many thanks, Mark).

Stratfan70, TerryB and I were joined this time around by the one and only Wolfman, Joshua Shapiro (to the right in the pic).

Some of you may have become familiar with the Wolfman in recent months, through the e-mail SOM newsletter he is now distributing.

Joshua is a longtime SOMer, and it's great to have him with us.

As has become our custom, we had sandwiches, sodas, and homemade cookies.

And, of course, plenty of Strat action.

It is great fun.  We get together to hit the local book sales, go to a ballgame, roll the dice.

Don't forget that we have a thread -- http://somers.activeboard.com/t47174444/where-are-we/ -- that is designed to try to get others together, as well.

I would love it if others in our community had the same opportunities.

Headin' down to Stratfan70's place today, cookies in tow.  He, TerryB and I are getting together to roll the bones and finish off the holiday treats.

The holiday tradition continues!SOMersNW X-Mas 30001.jpg

TerryB and I descended on stratfan70's place for an afternoon of cards 'n' cookies (and burgers) Jan. 7.

At sf70's request, I brought a few 1941 teams for their first test drive, prior to the start of my upcoming replay.

I snagged the Dodgers, TerryB claimed the Yankees, and sf70 wound up with the Red Sox (I brought them as the third team, just to see how Teddy Ballgame would perform).

Amidst all the baseball talk and a trip to Carl's Jr for lunch, we actually got some games in.

Surprisingly (or, maybe it was the House Dice...), sf70 snagged honors, going 2-0, including a convincing, 14-3, rout of my Bums.

Williams smacked a ninth-inning granny in that one!  In the two games, Williams was 4-8, with a triple and two home runs.  I guess he's ready to go.

TerryB split, beating me, as well, before losing to sf70.  I took my lumps, losing both games I rolled. no

All-in-all, it was another great time, and I can hardly wait for the next one.

Next time, though, I might also supply the dice. wink

Image.jpgWe did it again!

The SOMersNW gang made it four years in a row of SOM and holiday cookies this past week.

This time around, stratfan70, TerryB and I broke out the Negro League set for a draft.

We went a little Old School, setting rosters at 16 (which also made the draft go quicker) for what was essentially a round-robin mini-tourney that stratfan70 won with his magical house dice. wink

SF70 won three of four, TerryB split four games, and I brought up the rear, losing three of four.

But it was close!  I actually lost one game on a walkoff granny (OUCH!!!).

From left to right: stratfan70, TerryB, and me.

Thanks again to SF70 for offering up his home for a great afternoon of holiday cheer.

Guys are looking good. I see some Seahawks stuff. I take it you guys are gearing up for their trip to the playoffs.

Glad to see the tradition continue.  BTW, what kind of cookies did Seajaw make?  Strat ... it keeps us together.

It always is a pleasure to have my fellow SOMers over for some SOM, conversation and pizza and of course Seajaw's world famous cookies. Thanks to Seajaw and Terryb for making it a fun day of Strat.

My favorites from Seajaw's world famous cookies are the sugar cookies he made that are in the shape of Christmas decorations and his peanut butter cookies. My wife and daughter enjoy the chocolate cookies. I hear that people from around the country have enjoyed Seajaw's world famous cookies.

I have a special set of dice that I use only when we get together to roll the holiday games. wink
