2011-12 Indiana Pacers Replay
Permalink

am going to start the 2011-12 Indiana Pacers replay, after the Pacers finally had a winning season for the 1st time in 8 years, and coach Frank Vogel and his players helped erase the memories of "Malice at the Palace" back in November 2004. No Pacer had a rest rating of 6 minutes, no Pacer had a Shooting rating of 2 (Granger, Barbosa and West had ratings of 1), and everyone contributed en route to a 42-24 record, a 1st round win over Orlando and forcing the Miami Heat to play 6 grueling games in the semifinals. This is going to be one of the best replays I have done with Strat-o-Matic basketball, and I hope you enjoy it.

Monday, December 26th

Bankers Life Fieldhouse

Game #1 of 82

Indiana (1-0) 109, Detroit 84

The Pacers looked sharp even though it was a lockout-shortened season, as they trounced the Pistons 109-84 as five different Pacers scored in double figures and Indiana demolished Detroit in rebounding, 64-37. Danny Granger led the offensive attack with 24 points and 7 rebounds while David West had 20 points and 8 boards. The Pacers had 3 players grab 10 or more rebounds (Paul George with 11, Philip Fitzpatrick with 10 and Lou Amundson with 10) as Indiana dominated the glass. The Pacers also routed Detroit on the offensive boards, 22-3, with Fitzpatrick getting 8 offensive rebounds and Amundson with 5. Indiana's reserves outscored Detroit's 40-30 as Fitzpatrick had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Leandro Barbosa had 15 points. And Roy Hibbert chipped in with 13 points and 4 rebounds as all 10 Pacers players scored at least a point and grabbed at least a rebound. Rodney Stuckey led Detroit with 20 points, followed by Jonas Jerebko and Ben Gordon with 14. Austin Daye led the Pistons with 10 rebounds. The Pacers won despite being 43-for-102 from the field and 4-for-19 from 3-point-land, but they were 19-for-20 from the free throw line.

PISTONS LEADERS

Points - Stuckey 20, Jerebko/Gordon 14, Maxiell 8

Rebounds - Daye 10, Knight 7, Maxiell 6

Assists - Prince 4, Monroe 3, 3 players 2

PACERS LEADERS

Points - Granger 24, West 20, Barbosa 15

Rebounds - George 11, Fitzpatrick/Amundson 10, Granger 7

Assists - George 8, Collison 4, Hill/Amundson 2

After kicking off the season with a blowout win, the Pacers look to keep it going on December 28th when they take on the Raptors at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
