1973 Replay Highlights

Willie Stargell has my first highlight of this 1973 replay.

Willie becomes the 4th player to hit for the cycle for me.  Not only did he hit for the cycle he was 6 for 6 with 5 ribbies and he scored 5 times.

His first hit was a triple followed by 2 doubles, a single and close out his ab's with homers in the 8th & 9th.

On a side note Richie Hebner was a single away from the cycle as he went 4 for 6 with 5 ribbies.

The score of the game was Pirates 18 Cardinals 6.

Stragell & Hebner combine had a week output in this game alone 10 for 12, 10 RBI, 9 runs scored,  4 doubles,  2 triples, & 3 homers

Congrats on the Stargell cycle, though I'm surprised he had anything left in the tank after that three-bagger. wink

Thanks, He did hit 3 in 1973 and it was a X-chart triple, but he was probably a little winded when he got to 3rd.

Pops usually does well for me, he had my first 4 homer game.

Mike Epstein playing for the Rangers as he will later be traded to the Angels became the 2nd player to hit for the cycle in this replay and my 5th overall.

Epstein had a 2 run HR in the 2nd, doubled and scored in the 4th, singled in a run in the 5th, ground out in the 7th and triples with two outs in the 9th (X-Chart).

Epstein was 4 for 5 with 3 rbi's and he scored twice.

The Rangers loss 9-7 to the Twins.

Epstein will be traded to the Angles on 5/20.

Thanks and with Epstein being a .209 hitter it was an unexpected one for sure.

Thanks.  Yeah he was.  Epstein is a slow 1-9 running and Stargell is a fast 1-8 running. wink
