Game 6

An epic game at Maple Leaf Gardens.  The teams traded goals in the first 6 and a half minutes, but it stayed that way.  Toronto dominated play in the first overtime, but couldn't get one past Osgood.  In the second overtime, Doug Brown scored the game winner to eliminate the Leafs.

It takes about 30 minutes to play a game, where I'm coaching both teams.  I let the computer manage the line changes, so that probably saves a bit of time.  There are a whole lot of strategy options that you can set before the game.  But out of the box, they work pretty well.

I meant to tell you that I was inspired by your 1927 Yankees project to do a similar project in hockey, where I would play the 7677 Montreal Canadiens against other great teams.  I started it in Strat and didn't get very far, probably because I have too many other projects that I want to do.  But it is something that I want to do one day.

ROUND 1

7576 Montreal (5) against 0910 Philadelphia (124)

Interesting to think that Philly just barely squeaked into the playoffs that year, and they had a better winning percentage than a couple of Cup-winning teams, like the 6667 Leafs and the 6061 Hawks.

Game 4

The Flyers led 2-0 after 2.  But the Habs came back to tie it and then take a 3-2 lead, as Mario Tremblay scored twice, both on deflections.  The Flyers pulled Emery and Aaron Asham tied the game with 24 seconds left to send the game to overtime!  But Steve Shutt ended things quickly in OT as the Habs sweep the Flyers.

How long does it take to play a game?

It takes about 30 minutes to play a game, where I'm coaching both teams.  I let the computer manage the line changes, so that probably saves a bit of time.  There are a whole lot of strategy options that you can set before the game.  But out of the box, they work pretty well

Thanks for the answer. Maybe you'll get the chance to play a 27 Yankees style look at the Canadians.

ROUND 2

7071 Boston (6) against 6465 Chicago (123)

Boston was my favourite team when I was a kid.  This was the team that broke all sorts of records with most points (121), most goals (399), Esposito scoring 76 goals and 76 assists which shattered the previous records for goals and points.  Then the freaking Canadiens upset them in the 1st round, with some help from a little known goalie named Ken Dryden, who only appeared in 6 games in the regular season.  I've replayed that series with several different hockey games (Strat, both C&D and on the PC, Action PC Hockey, Inside The Crease), trying to correct the course of history.  When you see the players on that Habs team, it's not such a surprise that they beat Boston.

Game 1

Chicago scores first, but Bobby Orr scores a couple of goals and another defenceman, Dallas Smith, scores the other.

Game 3

This time, it was Boston's turn to blow a lead.  They were leading 4-2 in the 3rd, but a couple of power play goals by Chicago tied the game and sent it to overtime.  The Golden Jet, Bobby Hull, scored the winner for the Hawks.
