Game 5

Minnesota jumps out to a 2-0 lead with a couple of power play goals before the game is even 9 minutes old.  But the Habs battle back and Rejean Houle tied it early in the 3rd.  In overtime, Marc Tardif deflected a long shot by Pete Mahovlich past Don Beaupre, as the Habs eliminate the North Stars.

ROUND 2

7172 Boston (8) against 9192 Chicago (121)

First appearance by a Cup-winning Bruins team, with pretty much the same team as the 70-71 team that was ousted by Montreal in the quarter-finals the previous year.  The 9192 Hawks lost to the Penguins in the 92 final.  Interesting to see that they had both Ed Belfour AND Dominik Hasek in nets.

Chicago wins the opener, only allowing 14 shots from the Bruins.

Boston finally wins to get back in the series.

Not sure what happened, but when I posted this, the formatting was not present, like it usually is.  Boston won 3-1.

Game 5

Well, the Blackhawks did it!  Down 2-0 in the 3rd period, Jocelyn Lemieux scored at 8:20 to narrow the gap.  Later, Garnet Bailey took a 4-minute penalty for elbowing.  Chris Chelios capitalized with a blast past Eddie Johnston at 15:35 to tie the game.  Then, a minute and a half later, Rob Brown put Chicago ahead to stay.

A huge upset (I love upsets) as the #8 seed is gone!  The Hawks are going to need all the help they can get in the next round.  I reseed the teams after each round, so they will be up against the #1 seed, 7677 Montreal.
