Inaugural Game with 1986 Japanese set produces my longest game ever!

These inaugural games are normally not that memorable for anything other than being first. So out of the chute this thing goes 21 innings! It finally took a walk, passed ball , and a Double to end this thing. Randy Bass and Warren Cromartie went deep in the game. Its hard to win when your top 2 hitters in the lineup go 0-17.

Sorta transcends baseball, as you pass the 15th, 16th, 17th innings.

I have all kinds of cultural touchstones swirling around in my brain as I "see" those innings pass. The winning score almost becomes a "snatch the pebble from my hand" moment.

I was starting to wonder. I got into extra innings and all scoring chances seemed to stop.

I'm sure this was harder to take for Yomuri than a US team.

It makes me wonder what would happen if I played the season.

I do believe that in Japan, games are a tie after 12 innings (15 in the postseason), but I'm glad you played yours out!

There is no provision to end in a tie. That is interesting.

OK...I forgot about this, but my gut told me to look. So yes this was my other game over 20 innings, but has since been broken today.

The power of this site...it can keep track of stuff in case you forget...I am about to have a birthday...father time isn't helping my memory
