Thought I would start this for whenever Keith Hernandez, Strat's great ambassador, makes a Strat-O-Matic mention on the air.

On Mike Morse, playing in, who just let a soft hit grounder go through at first, Juan Lagares; "We got a 4 over there in Strat-O-Matic".

Maybe it was a # on a gb(1B)X?

That will be fun to follow.  I've head of a number of references over the years.

It would be a cool thing if Strat could get Keith to do a sit down FTF series, a la Billy Sample and Tony Brizzolara. Maybe the Wolfman at Ultimate Strat newsletter will make that one happen as well. :)

Strat approached him about sitting down for a celebrity Q&A. He was not interested.

His Mets' broadcast production team should tie him down to do a Strat tutorial, at least (if they haven't already).

Not surprised, from what I gather he is kind of a jerk off camera.

Actually Steve Barkan is friends with Keith. He never says a bad word about him. Steve said he just doesn't want to do that interview with Strat. He might someday. I'm sure he has his reason. Only he knows.

Maybe Steve likes him, but I stand by my comment about what I have heard about him.  Of course it is all hearsay, but when you read it from enough sources, you have to put some validity in it.........

From another Strat site (Strat-O-Matic Gamer Forum 2) under the Real Sports thread:

from: bscott135 on May 24th:

 3233.1

I'm watching the Met-Pirate game now and Gary and Keith were talking about the woes of the Mets defense. Keith then started handing out SOM ratings to the Mets defense. <LOL>

I was able to rewind and jot down what he said....

"If you look at their defense and you're a Strat-O-Matic fan, you've got Cuddyer who is probably a 4, Murph is probably a 4. That's just strickly range in SOM. The rating system in SOM is if you're a gold glover you're a 1. Lagares is a 1. If you're a very good fielder you're a 2. If you're challenged a little, fair, mediocre you're a 3. If you don't cover a lot of ground you're a 4 and there are very few 5's. The Mets would have shortstop, second base and first base as 4's. Mayberyy is a 4 in left field. So the defense is... a little tough."

Keith is awesome.

7:13pm vs the Nationals:
"It'll be a nice Strat-O card" after his broadcast partner discussed de Grom's numbers.

That's great to hear him say that.

9:43pm vs Baltimore. Curtis Granderson batting against a left-handed Baltimore reliever in the top of the seventh: "Curtis...39 strikeouts in a hundred at bats against lefties...Curtis is going to have a very one sided Strat-O-Matic card."

Bottom third of the Braves - Met game...Keith discussed putting his 1982 Cardinals infield of Hernandez, Herr, Smith and Oberkfell up against the 1999 Mets infield of Olerud, Alfonzo, Ordonez and Ventura defensively. "Herr was probably a 2, Ozzie and me were 1's and Oberkfell was probably a 3 strat-o-matically...good hands though...
