I checked the 1982 Cardinal infield ratings from the initial release (ADVANCED VERSION; not this years SADV VERSION) and discovered the following:

1b-Hernandez 1e12

2b- Herr 2e12

ss- Ozzie Smith 1e16

3b- Ken Oberkfell 2e14

For those who bought the new SADV version, did the ratings change? What are the 1999 Met infielder ratings?

Watching the Braves-Rockies game tonight and when talking about favorite baseball games, Rockies analyst Geoff Huson said his was Strat-O-Matic growing up. I guess I have to view him with less disdain now. ;)

 1b-Olerud  2 e9

2b-Alfonzo  2 e5

3b-Ventura  1 e10

SS-Ordonez  1 e4

With the range ratings being identical(two 1s/ two 2s) , the errors expected over a full season shines light: 54 for the Cards, 28 for the Mets.

"Ray-O" always "got lost" during that generation of overpowering shortstops like Garciaparra, Jeter & A-Rod who's offensive talents scored well in the headlines, BUT Ray lead MLB in DEFENSIVE W.A.R. in 1999 , which deserves mention!

If Ozzie was "The Wizard" , then Ray was at very least "The Warlock"!!  :)

Jim Deshaies just brought up Strat today in the Cardinals-Cubs game, as a means to simulate a specific pitcher against a specific lineup.

Lively discussion of Strat-o-matic during the Cubs - Marlins game this evening. Mostly about the box covers. One of the Cubs players helmet stickers fell off and they made reference to the box cover with no logo on the helmet. Then they focused on a beat reporter who is on the cover of the strat-o-matic hockey game as a line referee.

The story is they used a photo from a beer league on Long Island.  He was a college student and it was his dad's beer league.  He a beat writer for the Marlins.
