1986 Dan Driessen Card :: Card and Computer
Permalink

Two  Questions::

What statistics are shown on the 1986 Driessen card (SF I believe)?

Does the computer game have a 1986 Driessen card for the Astros?

Thanks,

BatDiv1

Thanks Nitrous. He was given his year numbers instead of his Houston specific numbers. BatDiv1

I don't believe that Driessen was carded at all in 1986. You can go to the strat-o-matic website and look through roster archives of all printed years. Googling strat-o-matic rosters should show that site.

Word of warning when using that site- the year that you are looking for will be the year that SOM released the game for sale, not the year you are looking up the stats for (it is really confusing and doesnt apply to all rosters). But for 1986, you have to look at the 1987 roster in the SOM archive page.

Also, 40 combined ABs is really low number of ABs to be carded. Whenever a player plays for 2 teams in the same league, he is usually only carded for one team which would be the last team he played for - using the combined stats (if he is carded at all). The computer gives you more players, but it appears to do the same when a player has appeared on 2 teams (in the same league) - i.e. last team/combined stats.

They had that problem back in the day.  They used the year of issue (rather than the season represented) for a long time.

I'm sure someone here can remember what year they fixed that (I woke up late and I'm just getting started on my coffee hmm).

Driessen has a computer card for the 86 Astros.........

When you play the computer version "as played", it puts Driessen on the Giants until his move to Houston......but his card is with Houston.........

To all,
Much to my surprise, Driessen appears on the San Francisco Giant Roster, and among the first 20, on the strat site.

 BatDiv1,

Pretty sure that you are looking at 85 SF. One way to tell is look at the rest of roster. In this case if Trillo is on it, you have 85. There are probably some sites out their that may list years correctly (as you would think), not what is printed at the top of the sheet itself. Bottom line, it is really a pain and you usually have to cross reference with players who you know are on the rosters only for that certain year.

Strat's roster sheet was listed as the year they released the cards until 1989.

The 1988 season says "1989 Strat O Matic"

The 1989 season says "1989 Season Strat O Matic"

Thanks to everyone. Save me from buying a team that I did not want.
