If I recall correctly (and at my age that is a big "if" lately) Culliver never had a carry that resulted in a loss. Tough fullback, that Calvin.

I'll take Nebraska in a close one.

In my first-ever SOM Buckeye Challenge, Nebraska 1971 was the Non-Buckeye Division winner. Ohio State 1979 beat them 21-0 in the championship game. It was the last time the Buckeyes won a championship. I'll eventually get around to playing this year's bowl games, where the 1973 Buckeyes will try for the third time to win it all. It likely will be Woody's last shot at a Buckeye Challenge title.

Nebraska 1971 overcame their opening week one-point loss to Colorado 1971 to win the Haffner 1970s CFB Tournament.  The Cornhuskers took the Crimson Tide to the woodshed, beating them senseless 34-14.  Game MVP Jerry Tagge, Nebraska’s quarterback, led all rushers with 71 yards on 8 carries, including a 47-yard TD scamper, and was 7 of 10 through the air for 56 yards.
