Harold Baines had 2 base hits at Yankee Stadium as the Texas Texans came back
dramatically to top the New York Yankees by the score of 3 to 2.

Texas scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning with 3 runs on 3 hits.
Baines led off and keyed the rally when he doubled. Ruben Sierra came next
and he banged out a single. Two outs later Pete Incaviglia came to bat and
cracked a two-run shot. Jeff Kunkel was up next and he drew a walk. Texas
finished with just 6 hits in the victory.

Bobby Witt(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 8 innings. Witt was
helped out by Kenny Rogers who recorded his 1st save. Eric Plunk(0-1) was
charged with the loss in relief. He surrendered 4 hits and no walks in 1 and
1/3 innings.

Bobby Valentine was feeling mighty fine as he answered questions in his office
after the game, 'Now that was one fine ending! Did you see how the crowd just
sat there in silence after the winning run scored? Here we are celebrating
wildly, and the stadium is cloaked in virtual silence. Weird. but GREAT!'

Eddie Murray had 4 hits and 6 RBI and Mike Morgan went 9 solid innings as the
Los Angeles Dodgers ballclub embarrassed the Houston Astros by the count of
14 to 1.

Murray was unconscious all evening. The Houston fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box as he just kept delivering base hits! He doubled
which brought home a run in the 1st inning, smashed a two-run homer in the
3rd inning, lashed a single which plated a run in the 4th inning and doubled
scoring two baserunners in the 7th inning. Los Angeles had a total of 16
hits for the game.

Morgan(1-0) allowed 1 run on the game. Bill Gullickson(0-1) ended up with the
loss. He was touched for 11 hits and 2 walks in 4 innings.

'Morgan took our guys to school' Art Howe said. 'Too bad he doesn't pitch for
us - it would make my job a whole lot easier!'
