Thank you all for being patient with my updates from my trip.

Over the last 72 hours, a pair of traumatic events happened in my life.  Posting the updates has taken a back seat to them (although I have checked in here).

Hopefully tomorrow afternoon I will be able and available to get you all caught up on the last leg of my Excursion, as well as the replays I have going on here.

Thanks again!..........Johnny Nac..........

A few days late do to sudden things that happened to me personally..........but here is a recap of my last day of the Excursion, Saturday in Yankee Stadium.

It isn't "The House That Ruth Built", for sure.  It is a pretty amazing place, with all the history, but because it isn't the original, it didn't feel like it did when I went to Wrigley or Fenway.  I will say it is definitely an experience first and foremost for the fan..........and their wallet.  Not so much the prices (which weren't really out of line with the other stadiums), but the sheer amount of stuff to buy.  Since the team has so much history (besides Monument Park, they have the Hall of Heroes and another museum that you will see when I post the pics), they DEFINITELY capitalize on it at every turn.

I moved from the mezzanine level into the upper deck, simply due to the sun and heat.  I was seriously drained by the end.  In fact, to be honest, besides seeing the sites at all the parks, the rest of the trip was pretty much disappointing.  The games from a suspense level were brutal (pretty much nothing close at all).  The heat was simply too much to bear every single day.  The traffic in New York was insane (I had never been).  Even in Pittsburgh, streets went all one way the wrong way LOL.

The weather was the worst part actually.  I don't mind a lot of driving.  But when you are covered in sweat for hours in a car with no air conditioning, and basically are drenched by the time you even get to the ballpark, it just wears on you (my a/c is broken, has been since I bought the car, and it's about $1200 to fix it).  The other thing was, due to all the afternoon games, I had little down time (hence partly the delay in posting after the first couple days, and NO time to play any replay games).

I did however see the 20th anniversary of the 1996 Championship team (video to follow), which was cool like Thome's ceremony.  I also saw history made, as Tyler Austin and Aaron Judge became the first players in history to homer in their first ML at bats in a back-to-back fashion (and as soon as it happened I just KNEW it had never been done before).  Judge is massive.  6 foot 7 and 285 pounds.  Not sure if he is going to a long-term right fielder though with that body.

Anyways, there are a LOT of Yankee Stadium pics, so bear with me while I get them all loaded up!

Nac, looks like you had a great trip and an experience worth remembering, despite the weather and hardships.  No A/C!  You should collect all these writings and photos and compile them into a scrap book of some type.  Well done!

One thing I failed to mention..........

The home teams went 4-1 on this trip.  Makes the home team's record 11-2.

Obviously I bring good luck most of the time!

"...set up like a Hall of Fame..."

You mean, this wasn't the Hall of Fame? wink

Amazing.  How do you get through it all in one day, without missing the game?

Whatever the traumatic events were, I hope you are able to work through them okay.

Most stadiums open their gates early.....2 hours in most cases.  I get to the stadiums usually close to half an hour before THAT, and walk around the stadium (many have statues outside the gates).  Two hours from gate opening gives me PLENTY of time to navigate the area inside.  You just cannot get to the seats until 90 minutes before game time, which works great because you can check out all the places where the teams honor their history.  It really is a honed art form LOL...........

Wait until 2 weeks from now when I have to pick up my son from the Albany airport.  I have to drive right past Cooperstown.........THEN you will see some pictures!!!
