Strange things seem to be happening at Baseball Reference.

I am unable to access large swaths of data that was previously open for viewing.

Basically, anything in the Play Index Bar of the main page.  That includes all-time categorical leaders, award winners, the historical Minor League database (rosters, etc.).  Oddly, the Major League historical team pages and data are still available.

Is it now pay/subscription access only for the rest of the site?

Evidently, they are making a bunch of changes at the site.  It could be that is why certain functions are not currently available.

Some of the stuff I mentioned in my OP have returned.

It seems to be back in place, so far as I can tell.

I was browsing BBR on 12-27-16. While examining the yearly splits for pitcher Willie Hernandez*, a message popped up. It was a form for me to fill out regarding any suggestions or corrections I may wish to make for the BBR database. This is the form that one can access easily without being so prompted, and I suspect I the message popped up automatically due to the amount of times I have recently trafficked the site.

So I submitted the same query I had in the 1971 Card Errors thread at the Hal Richman Research Center within this forum. I specifically asked BBR if they could identify the side(s) of the plate 1971 Cleveland player Fred Stanley was hitting from when he hit his two homeruns that season.

My query was transmitted at approximately 4:30pm on 12-27 and I received an email from BBR five hours later confirming and displaying my detailed inquiry and that they would be contacting me as soon as possible when or if that had an answer.

They assigned a six digit case number to my inquiry. I await their reply and will keep this forum posted.

*Hernandez, who won the AL Cy Young and MVP in '84 for the champion Tigers, surprisingly had an even better WHIP the following season (.900). He gave up more ding-dings, though.

All you can do is ask, right? wink

Maybe they can also answer the question as to specifically when Stanley did switch hit during that time (which games).

Looking forward to their reply.
