Toronto Blue Jays at Boston Red Sox (Games 12-15)

Game 1 - Blue Jays 3, Red Sox 2
- It was a 2-2 game in the top of the 8th when John Olerud knocked in George Bell with a double as that held up as the game-winner. David Wells picked up his 3rd win of the year, tossing seven innings allowing two runs (one earned) on eight hits and striking out three.

Win: Wells (3-0)
Loss: Gray (0-1)
Save: Henke (2nd)
HR: None

Game 2 - Red Sox 5, Blue Jays 0

Pittsburgh Pirates at New York Mets (Games 24-26)

All three games of this series were pretty one-sided, but it would be the New York Mets who steal a pair from the Pittsburgh Pirates as the Mets are now just one game back of the Pirates and Reds as the race heats up.

Game 1 - The Pirates actually held a 3-2 advantage going into the bottom of the 6th when Darryl Strawberry hit a solo homer to tie it and Keith Miller would hit a sac fly to give the Mets the lead as that proved to be the game-winner. Bobby Bonilla homered twice in the loss for the Pirates. NYM 4, PIT 3

PIT 201 000 000 - 3 9 1 (13-11)
NYM 110 002 10X - 5 9 0 (12-12)

Win: Fernandez (3-2)
Loss: Heaton (2-3)
Save: Franco (8th)
HR: B.Bonilla-2 (4th), D.Strawberry (8th), D.Boston (6th)

Game 2 - Frank Viola pitched one heck of a game, as he went eight innings allowing one run on six hits, walked one, and struck out ten batters as the Mets win handedly. The Mets also banged out 16 hits and got a 4 for 5 day from Darryl Boston. NYM 8, PIT 1

PIT 000 000 010 - 1  6 1 (13-12)
NYM 010 320 02X - 8 16 1 (13-12)

Win: Viola (4-2)
Loss: Drabek (4-3)
HR: D.Strawberry (9th)

Game 3 - After getting crushed in the last game, the Pirates were able to avoid the sweep as they cross the plate ten times for an easy win. Sid Bream had a heck of a day out of the leadoff spot, going 3 for 5 with a double, homer, and four runs knocked in. PIT 10, NYM 3

PIT 300 000 241 - 10 9 0 (14-12)
NYM 000 020 100 -  3 8 2 (13-13)

Yeah, hopefully it can stay that way!

AL looks like it's either gonna be the A's or the Jays.

Toronto Blue Jays at Boston Red Sox (Games 27-29)

The Blue Jays would travel to Fenway Park and take all three games from the Red Sox as they start to pull away from the Red and White Sox. They are creeping up on the A's as they look to continue their hot play.

Game 1 - Todd Stottlyemyre dominated the Red Sox, as he fired a complete game two-hit shutout while walking three and striking out four. Fred McGriff, Pat Borders, and John Olerud all had RBI's for the Jays. TOR 3, BOS 0

TOR 002 000 010 - 3 8 0 (14-13)
BOS 000 000 000 - 0 2 2 (13-14)

Win: Stottlemyre (4-3)
Loss: Harris (2-4)
HR: None

Game 2 - The Blue Jays held a 5-1 lead going into the bottom of the 9th when things got interesting. The Red Sox would score three times in the inning but were unable to force extras. Pat Borders and George Bell each had solo home runs for the Jays while Tony Pena went a perfect 4 for 4 for the Red Sox. TOR 5, BOS 4

TOR 200 002 100 - 5  8 0 (15-13)
BOS 001 000 003 - 4 11 1 (13-15)

Win: Wells (5-1)
Loss: Kiecker (3-3)
HR: P.Borders (4th), G.Bell (2nd)

Game 3 - Roger Clemens continued his recent struggles, as he loses yet another tough decision as the Blue Jays complete the sweep. Junior Felix went 2 for 4 with a two-run homer and Tony Fernandez's sac fly in the 4th proved to be the difference. TOR 3, BOS 2

TOR 020 100 000 - 3  8 2 (16-13)
BOS 000 002 000 - 2 10 2 (13-16)

Chicago White Sox at Oakland Athletics (Games 27-29)

It was surprisingly a tight series between the first-place Athletics and the last-place White Sox, but it would be the A's who would take two of three from the Sox. The A's maintain their lead over the Jays, but now it is down to just two games.

Game 1 - Down 1-0 in the 5th, the White Sox would plate three runs in the inning on two RBI doubles from Lance Johnson and Ozzie Guillen and get a sac fly from Sammy Sosa. However, the A's would storm right back in their half of the 5th, getting a three-run homer from Jose Canseco as that held up as the game-winner. OAK 4, CHW 3

CHW 000 030 000 - 3 8 1 (10-17)
OAK 010 030 00X - 4 8 0 (17-10)

Win: Sanderson (5-2)
Loss: Perez (2-4)
Save: Eckersley (12th)
HR: J.Canseco (8th)

Game 2 - The A's would double up the White Sox in the second game of the series pretty easily. Carney Lansford had a three-run blast in the 4th and Mark McGwire had a two-run homer in the 5th as they did the majority of the damage. OAK 6, CHW 3

CHW 001 011 000 - 3 9 0 (10-18)
OAK 000 330 00X - 6 9 0 (18-10)

Win: Moore (3-3)
Loss: King (1-4)
Save: Eckersley (13th)
HR: L.Johnson (1st), M.McGwire (10th), C.Lansford (2nd)

Game 3 - The White Sox needed a win to avoid the sweep and that's exactly what they got. Scott Fletcher notched an RBI single in the 2nd and Ron Karkovoice had one of his own in the 3rd as that held up as the game-winner. Greg Hibbard went seven innings allowing one run on five hits and struck out three and Bobby Thigpen would pick up the six-out save. CHW 2, OAK 1

CHW 011 000 000 - 2 8 0 (11-18)
OAK 000 100 000 - 1 7 2 (18-11)

Win: Hibbard (4-2)
Loss: Stewart (1-4)
Save: Thigpen (10th)
HR: J.Canseco (9th)
