Bronx Bombers live up to their name scoring 38 runs and slugging 13 home runs, as 38 Yanks take 3 of 4 from 61 Tigers

While the Yanks belted 6 home runs in the game, Detroit was not without fire power of their own, hammering 3 long balls, but in the end coming up short.

After that series it looks like they had to make a run to the local sporting goods store for more baseballs.

48 Indians take 3 of 4 from 20 WS

Game 1

48 Indians (37-19)00000031026121
20 WS(21-35)3000000100442

Mitchell's 2 run double in the tenth inning made a winner of Lemon. Lemon pitched a complete game for the win. Faber also went the distance for the Sox and absorbed the loss.

Chicago took a 3-0 lead without the benifit of a hit. In fact, Lemon did not allow a base hit until the eighth inning. In the first frame, E. Collins and J. Jackson walked. After Felsch whiffed, Foxx drew a free pass to load the bases. Weaver then reached on a 2 base error by Doby, as a pair of runs scored. S. Collins' sac fly plated the third run of the inning.

Cleveland scored their first run in an unlikely manner when Berardino homered to lead off the seventh. Lemon aided his own cause at the plate with a double and a triple, scoring a run.

Once again the Indians won the game in extra innings. Feller started for Cleveland, and went 7 innings. Christopher pitched 4 innings of relief for the victory. Cicotte tossed all 11 innings for Chicago and was tagged with the loss.

     E. Robinson rapped a 2 run homer for Cleveland. The Indians tied the score in the ninth inning when Mantle beat the throw to first on a double play attempt.

Mitchell led off the 11th with a single and Boudreau bunted him into scoring position. Keltner lined a single to score the run.

This time it was Chicago who prevailed in the extra frames. Kerr pitched 4 innings in relief of Wilkinson for the win. Bearden took the loss, going 2/3 innings as the fourth Indians' hurler of the game.

Zoldak started and held Chicago down for the first 6 innings. He tired in the seventh and Paige was brought into the contest. Satch allowed a 2 run homer by Felsch in the eighth inning, giving the WS the lead.

E. Robinson's home run in the ninth tied the score and the game went to extra innings. Robinson was the man for Cleveland again in the tenth, singling home the go ahead run. Klieman could not hold the lead, allowing a rbi single by S. Collins in the bottom half inning.

After Cleveland was set down in the 11th, Bearden was now pitching. Strunk led off with a single and E. Collins bunted him to second base. J. Jackson struck out, bringing Foxx to the plate. The Beast hit a game winning 2 run homer.

Podres has made 3 starts, but will pitch mostly in long relief.

Branca and Antonello were removed from the team to make it a 25 man roster
