Wow.  Twenty home runs in three games.  That's quite a stretch for any two teams.

 Sure was!!!

Good series between Pirates and Reds

Game 1

ATL   2  5 0

PHI   1  4 0

WP- Maddux (1-0) 8 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 5 K

LP- Alexander (0-1) 8 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, 4 K

SV- Wagner (1) 1 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 0 BB, 1 K

2B- Harper (1)

HR- McCann (1), Utley (1)

RBI- Aaron (1), McCann (1), Utley (1)

SB- Rayburn (1)

Finally got a pitcher duel, not much action on either side. in the 6th inning, tied at 1 Mathews singled with a runner on first and aaron followed up with his own single to un-tie the game and that was how it stayed.

Game 2

ATL  5  8 0

PHI  7 10 0

WP- Schilling (1-0) 6 IP, 4 ER, 7 H, 0 BB, 4 K

LP- Spahn (0-1) 6 IP, 7 ER, 9 H, 3 BB, 8 K

SV- Lidge (1) 1 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 BB, 3 K

2B- McCann (1), Leonard 2 (2), Charleston (1), Harper 2 (3), Rollins (1)

3B- Murphy (1), Goldschmidt (1)

HR- Aaron (1), Leonard (1), Alfonzo (1), Allen (1), Rollins (1)

RBI- Aaron (2), Leonard 2 (2), Alfonzo 2 (2), Harper (1), Allen 2 (2), Luzinski 2 (2), Rollins 2 (2)

Much more offense in this one, Spahn never really had a terrible inning, but he only allowed 2 singles, and 7 extra base hits. Lidge got his first save of the season striking out all 3 batters in the 9th.

Game 3

ATL  4  9 0

STL  6 11 0

WP- Fuentes (1-0) 1 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 3 BB, 0 K

LP- Wagner (0-1) 1.2 IP, 3 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 2 K

2B- Alfonzo (1), Harper (4), Howard (1), Klein (1)

3B- Charleston (1)

HR- Lopez (1), Leonard (2), Harper (1), Howard (1), Lieberthal (1), Rollins (2)

RBI- Brown (1), Lopez (1), Leonard (3), Murphy (1), Harper (2), Howard 2 (2), Lieberthal 2 (2), Rollins (3)

SB- Harris (1)

Smoltz threw a nice game, 8 IP, 3 ER. harper and howard each doubled and homered off him, but no one else could do anything. Wagner came in for the nineth and gave up lead off homer to jimmy rollins to blow the save. Fuentes was struggling to find the zone, walking the bases loaded but was able to wiggle out of it. wagner stayed in for the bottom of the 10th, after walking howard he retired the next 2 batters. Mike Lieberthal hit the walk off 2 run Homerun to win the game and the series

Three good games between the Phils and Braves, especially game 3. Nice comeback by the Phightins.

DET  10 12 0

RBI- Helton (1), Jackson 3 (3), Donaldson 3 (3), Tulowitzki 4 (4), Cobb 5 (5), Greenberg (1), Trout 2 (2), Trammell 2 (2)

SB- Cobb (1)

Blue vs Verlander was not all it was cracked up to be, with Blue allowing 6 in 6, and Verlander only went 4.2 and allowed 9. Pudge Rodriguez went out in the 6th with an injury and will miss the rest of the series.  The A's took a 10-6 lead in to the nineth, but the combination of Doolittle and Eckersley were not able to Finish the game. Pinch hitter Sam Crawford reached on an error by Donaldson, to load the bases and Cobb cleared them with a game tying triple. Donaldson Redeemed himself driving in the game winning run with a single in the 10th.

Game 2

OAK  5  9 0

DET 22 23 0

WP- Price (1-0) 7 IP, 4 ER, 7 H, 2 BB, 6 K

LP- Hunter (0-1) 3.1 IP, 11 ER, 11 H, 2 BB, 2 K

SB- Cobb (2)

HOLY COW!! what a game! Cash was 5-5 and Trout was 4-6, combining for 5 XBH and 13 RBI.

Game 3

OAK  3  6 0

DET 10 14 1

WP- Harvey (1-0) 7 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 3 BB, 11 K

RBI- Henderson (1), Foxx (3), Jackson (4), Cobb (8), Gehringer (2), Cabrera 2 (6), Greenberg 2 (3), Trout 4 (13)

SB- Cobb 2 (4)

An unbelievable start to the season for Detroit, while only winning 2 of 3, they score 42 runs! The entire team batting average is at .398 after the first 3 games! Trout makes a strong showing, going 7 for 15 with 5 HR and 13 RBI. There was so much scoring in this series, 61 total runs, it overshadowed a masterful performance by Matt Harvey, who's only ER allowed was on a Leadoff HR by ricky.

Game 1

CHW   0  7 0

MIN  13 16 1

WP- Johnson (1-0) 9 IP, 0 ER, 7 H, 1 BB, 6 K, CG, SHO

LP- Wood (0-1) 1 IP, 7 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, 1 K

2B- Ventura (1), Couch Jr (1), Knoblauch (1), Oliva 2 (2), Renteria (1)

HR- Bagwell 2 (2), Braun (1), Johnson (1)

RBI- Mauer (1), Bagwell 2 (2), Braun 4 (4), Renteria (1), Johnson 5 (5)

Walter Johnson alone was enough to beat the socks off Chicago. he is the first pitcher to homer, had 5 RBI, and threw a shut out. amazing. Wilbur woods knuckle ball was flat and he got hammered. giving up 2 singles 3 doubles and a grand slam in the first inning to ryan braun.

Game 2

CHW   4  7 0

MIN  12 13 0

WP- Erikson (1-0) 6 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, 7 BB, 6 K

LP- Sale (0-1) 5 IP, 5 ER, 6 H, 6 BB, 6 K

2B- Couch Jr 2 (3), Oliva (3)

3B- McGee (1)

HR- Cronin (1), Oliva (1), Renteria (1), Erikson (1)

RBI- Thomas (1), Ordonez (1), Ventura (1), Cronin (1), Knoblauch (1), Oliva 5 (5), Renteria 3 (4), Erikson 3 (3)

SB- Raines 2 (2)

The white sox have been outscored 25-4 in the first 2 games, with pitchers accounting for 2 HR and 8 RBI. Erikson was shaky but the offense was strong enough to get him the W.

Game 3

CHW   9 15 0

MIN   3 10 0

WP- Peters (1-0) 8 IP, 1 ER, 7 H, 2 BB, 6 K

LP- Santana (0-1) 6 IP, 5 ER, 9 H, 2 BB, 8 K

2B- Couch Sr (1), Cronin (1), Knoblauch (2), Renteria (2)

HR- Cronin (2), Carter (1), Zobrist (1), Mauer (1)

RBI- Thomas 2 (3), Cronin (2), McGee (1), Carter 3 (3), Zobrist (1), Oliva (6), Mauer 2 (3)

SB- Couch Jr (1)

Peters was solid in the sox first win of the season. Santana was good in the loss, but allowing 4 straight hits, including gary carters 3 run home run, in the 4th with 2 outs was enough to hang the loss on him.
