Amazing catch by Doug Baldwin

Paul Richardson made a couple of amazing catches in Saturday's game against Detroit (yes, one should have been a facemask call and coincidental penalties, with a reply of the down.

But this one is also a marvelous reception:

Baldwin had to convince Pete Carroll to challenge the original ruling on the field of "no catch," claiming he most certainly caught the ball.

Astonishing.

Since he is a local boy that catch is being played constantly.

He's matured nicely.

Remember when he was "Angry Doug Baldwin," with that giant chip on his shoulder?  He was brash and outspoken in his first few years, and probably did a few things he's come to regret,

He felt he had to prove himself, since he wasn't a glitzy, high-round draft pick.  Now that he has some success under his belt, and a new contract, he has become a leader, in the best sense of the word.

He's become a spokesman, and his response in the wake of the Colin Kaepernick controversy was wonderful.  The interlocking of arms by the team as a show of unity was a solid gesture.  He's met with local officials on the subject of policing (his dad was a cop).

He's shown himself to be very thoughtful.  Through his hard work, he has earned much respect around the league.

What really stood out after the game Saturday was the fact that Baldwin felt terrible about the touchdown pass he caught, because the ball was intended for Kearse.  He admitted he was in the wrong spot on the play.

He said he realized just how few chances anyone has in the game.  Kearse, in particular, has had a rough season.  That was Kearse's ball, and he apologized for grabbing it.
