Thanks Terry

Some much anticipated news...

Strat-O-Matic Opening Day in Glen Head, NY: Friday, February 10th

Shipping of new baseball products begins: Monday, February 13th

*Note: Shipping priority will be given to those who pre-order earliest.

Strat-O-Matic Opening Day will take place this year on Friday, February 10. As always, fanatics and gamers are welcome to line up outside the Strat-O-Matic warehouse in Glen Head, NY (Address: 42 Railroad Plaza) on that day to be the first ones to receive the new baseball products! The door on building #42 will open at 12:00pm. The bonus of picking up your cards and/or computer game on Opening Day: you get your new baseball products FOUR DAYS earlier than anyone else!

All orders to be picked up on Opening Day must be called in to our office beforehand at 1-800-645-3455 or 516-671-6566 and cannot be placed through the website. All Opening Day pickup orders must be placed, finalized and prepaid with a credit card by Wednesday, February 8. There will be no handling fee for Opening Day pickup orders.

For those who do not come to pick up their orders in-person on Opening Day, regular shipping and E-Delivery of the new baseball products will begin the following Monday, February 13, with shipping priority on board game products being given to those who place their orders the earliest in the pre-order time period. All E-Delivery products will be unlocked by the end of the day on Monday, February 13, regardless of the date they were pre-ordered.

Mine as well. Just too far away, too expensive. Maybe one day.

One of these days, I will make it to opening day at STRAT. I mapped it out, and it's only 250 miles from my home in suburban Maryland. I just have few obstacles to overcome:

1. The weather along the I-95 corridor is usually bad that time of year.

2. I have to drive into DC everyday to work, so the thought of driving in the NYC area and dealing with traffic to get there gives me a headache.

3. This is the utmost important reason- the wife's birthday(Feb.9) is usually around opening day, so I would need to come up with a damned good excuse to make the trip. Maybe, when my son gets older(he's 5 now) I can try and give it shot.

On the plus side, I have relatives that live in NJ that work on Wall Street that take the train into NYC everyday. Maybe I can crash with them, ride the commuter train into Penn Station and take the Long Island RR to Glen Head... it's a plan.

4hrs 15 mins according to MapQuest for me. But given the non-sense of DC area and Baltimore traffic you could easily tack on at least another hour. On a good day it takes me nearly an hour (45-50 mins) to get from MD to DC to work and it's a 10 mile trip. Back home about the same. If you're ever in the DC area and need a good laugh, tune into 105.9 WMAL and hear the traffic report. Everyday it's "we have bad rush hour on our hands". That's one of the reasons the wife and I are seriously considering a move to West Virginia in the next few years.

Looks like prices for the older baseball teams have been raised $5 - $10. All 60's teams are now $45 (not just the more recent 61 and 69). Teams 1960 or older are $40(1953 is still $45), I believe last year these were $35. And as noted in the News Letter Topic, 1971 is not Listed and I assume not available.

I have read that 1971 is indeed sold out.

As I retirement gift to myself I just placed a pretty good sized order. The cost of Strat is so low when you break it down by the amount of time it gets used!

I agree. In terms of bang for the buck for a hobby where grown men get to be kids for awhile...get to feel as if you've somehow traversed time... there is no parallel.
