Interrupt if you've heard this before; the Blue Jays explode for enough runs in one inning off of Cleveland starter Carlos Carrasco to win the game. Of course, they don't stop there. They never seem to stop at all. Josh Donaldson hit a three run homer, Chris Collabello and Troy Tulowitzki each drove in a pair, and the entire lineup either scored or batted in a run. RA Dickey was solid if unspectacular (8 IP 4 ER 5 BB), good enough for the win in either case. The Indians, already saddled with injuries to Danny Salazar and Michael Brantley, lose reliever Ryan Webb for the entirety of the post season.

Thirteen Rangers came to the plate in the third inning, nine of whom crossed the plate, and Colby Lewis (6 1/3 IP 2 ER) made good use of his run support, as Texas wins it's interstate showdown with Houston. Robinson Chirinos had two RBI singles in the inning, while Will Venable and Adrian Beltre contribute two RBIs as well. The only solace the 'Stros could take was that their bullpen did not allow a run. Texas moves on to play Kansas City, while Houston has a possible elimination game with Seattle.

Gerrit Cole was nearly unhittable, whiffing 12 in eight innings and allowing only four base knocks, and reliever Mark Melancon blanked the Nats in the ninth as Pittsburgh's two aces combined on a 3-0 shutout. Gregory Polanco's fifth inning homer was all the run support the Bucs needed, and with the victory they move into the "catbird seat" in the division, needing two consecutive losses to prevent them from winning the division.

An anticipated pitching duel between two sub-2.00 ERA aces turns into a torrent of crooked numbers for the young Cubs. Zac Greinke is never sharp, and is run from the game in the sixth inning without recording an out, but after allowing 6 earned runs. Late season acquisition Austin Jackson and power hitting 1B Anthony Rizzo both drive in a pair, but the whole Chicago lineup gets into the act, including batting prodigy Kyle Schwarber, who belts a pinch hit home run. Jake Arrieta was not especially sharp, but three double plays and ten stranded Dodgers allow him to last eight innings and allow just two runs.

Francisco Lindor's first inning ground out plated Abraham Almonte, and that was all the scoring Trevor Bauer (7 IP 6 K) would need. Which was a good thing for the Tribe, because it was all the would manage off the Yankees' four pitchers. Cleveland's own four hurlers eliminated the Yanks from the playoffs and now the Indians advance to the finals of the AL East, where they take on Toronto, needing to win two straight against the one seeded Jays to take the title.

George Springer's seventh inning homer off of Felix Hernandez proved to be the deciding blow in a tight pitcher's duel from Safeco. King Felix's second start of the tourney was solid (8 IP 2 ER) but his offense could not solve Scott Kazmir (7 IP 1 ER) or the Astro bullpen. Houston advances to take on the loser of Texas-Kansas City, while the surprising Mariners exit the playoffs with their second loss.

Matt Harvey, Addison Reed, and Jeurys Familia combined on a four hit shutout and Yoenis Cespedes drove in both Met runs as New York eliminates the Nats. Steven Strasburg pitched well (7 IP 1 ER) but Cespedes took one of his few mistakes deep, and his defense supported him about as well as his offense. As in, they didn't. New York moves on to the division finals against the Pirates, who they will have to beat twice without a loss to advance further.

Van Slyke hits Lopez' first pitch into the bleachers in left. Pedro Baez vultures Alex Wood's win (6 2/3 IP 1 ER), Kenly Jansen nails down the save. The Giants go home, the Dodgers go to LA to play either Chicago or St. Louis. The end.

Two late season acquisitions pay dividends for the Blue Jays. David Price throws a masterful 8 innings, allowing just one run, and SS Troy Tulowitzki cranks a homer, as top-seeded Toronto wins the AL East. Edwin Encarnacion's first inning two run shot stands up as the game winner. The Indians squander a solid start from Cody Anderson (7 IP 3 ER) and see their surprising run come to an end.

The Royals are done in by some uncharacteristically leaky defense and some unsung Rangers. Yovani Gallardo allowed just one run in 8 innings and Will Venable stroked three singles and scored a run to pace Texas. Mike Moustakas drove in both runs for KC, but he also threw a ball into the dugout setting up one of Texas' runs. With the loss the presumptive world champs are on the precipice while Texas moves into the division catbird seat.

Michael Conforto's two out, pinch hit single plated Travis d'Arnaud with the winning run and the Mets staved off elimination, sending the NL East to a winner-take-all final back at PNC Park. Jonathan Neise was knocked out early with a sore shoulder (3 IP 3 ER), but the Met bullpen allowed just one run in seven innings and the offense, led by Michael Cuddyer (homer and two singles) and d'Arnuad awoke long enough for the win. Francisco Cervelli had a two run double and a run scored for the Buccos in a losing effort.

John Lackey out-dueled John Lester, and the Cardinal's nominal ace combined with Randy Choate and Trevor Rosenthal on a four hit shutout. Lackey went 7 1/3, struck out 9, and generally dominated a usually stout lineup in Chicago. Both of the runs scored in support of the St. Louis pitching staff came on solo home runs. Other wise Lester was nearly as good--just not quite good enough.

George Springer's walk off tenth inning bomb (his second consecutive game winning homer) propels the Astros past KC. Jake Marisnek's single had tied the game in the sixth inning for Houston, and some solid late relief pitching kept the Royals at bay long enough for Springer's late game heroics, an upper-tank blast off of a 100 MPH Kelvin Herrera fastball. The Royals are eliminated with the loss, while Houston advances to play it's cross-state rivals the Rangers.

The Pirates overcome an an early injury to their starter J.A. Happ, and explode for six fourth inning runs to eliminate the Mets and send Pittsburgh to the NLCS. The Mets Noah Syndergaard also came up lame before the game was through three innings and the Met bullpen proved utterly futile, allowing nine earned runs in 5 2/3 IP. Gregory Polanco lead a balanced and relentless Pittsburgh attack, driving in three runs and scoring once. Jung Ho Kang was a home run shy of a cycle, and Pedro Alvarez added 2 ribbies for the Bucs. Joe Blanton threw three scoreless innings of long relief for the win.
