Four Doubles in a Game
Permalink

Here's one I never thought I would see.  I have had two players hit 4 homers in a game (Duke Snider and Del Ennis) and two perfect games (Frank Hiller and Ernie Johnson - of all people) but never 4 doubles in a game unto now.

April 30th, 1911.  Cleveland Naps at Detroit Tigers. In the first, Joe Jackson doubles for Cleveland, in the 3rd he singles, in the 5th he doubled again. In the 8th he doubled in a run and he gets one more chance to bat in the 9th and doubles in a pair.  That's 4 doubles and a single - good for 4 runs scored and a pair of RBI's.  Cleveland ripped Detroit 13-5. His 5 for 6 day raised his average to a league-leading .470.

I'm very OCD about Homeruns. I have no idea if I have had a player hit 4 Doubles in a game.

Congrats on the four doubles, ColavitoFan.

It's tough to forget four homer games (I've had two: Babe Ruth and Gabby Hartnett, while Phil Todt hit five in a twinbill).

But I don't think I've ever had a four doubles game for anyone.

I know someone has hit 3 triples in a game for me............quite sure someone has hit 4 doubles, but it would take forever to go and research LOL........

Two 4-homer games........Ron Santo and Charlie Maxwell........within about 6 weeks of each other!..........Maxwell's was 8/19/1960, Santo's was 10/5/1960 (the day before the season finale).

Nice game by Joe Jackson with his 4 doubles.

In my 1971 replay Tito Fuentes hits 4 doubles against the Dodgers and the Giants hit 8 as a team..
