Baseball Reference just updated their web page.  It took me a little bit of time to find my way around this morning.

I can't find the "This Date in History" part........usually used to be on the middle right of the old home page...........gave notable things that happened on each date, along with births and deaths..........

Interesting look.

I did a quick run-through of some of the stuff I use regularly.  Everything's there, just a bit different.

The season pages used to have the standings right at the top.  Now, you have to access a different page to see the standings.  But the team Batting, Pitching, Fielding and Wins Above Average totals are still there.

I noticed that they added some current-season clicks to the prior season pages.  This caused a bit of confusion at first.  There is a row of clicks on the team pages that says 1949 Season (which is the year I am prepping to play).

When I moved across the clicks, the proper searches were coming up, except for the Schedule link, which was a link to the 2017 schedule.  I was hoping they might have had the original to-be-played schedule for the '49 season (or whatever year, depending on what season you are researching).

Some of the data is still there, but required extra searches.  The main player page used to have a link to a player's SABR Bioproject page.  Now, you have to go to a "more bio, uniform, draft, salary, etc." drop-down menu and click on that to get the SABR prompt.

That's also how you will find the father/brother/cousin of info for players who are related to other players.

An interesting note there is that the entry for Dom DiMaggio says he is the brother of Vince DiMaggio (but no mention of Joe).  Joe's entry says he is the brother of Vince DiMaggio (but no Dom mention).  And Vince's entry says he is the brother of Joe (but no mention of Dom). hmm

Looking at the Advance Batting/pitching info, they have evidently dropped the Normalized stats category.

On the main page, they have definitely moved stuff around.  I was sorry to see Yardbarker go.  They always had interesting sports/entertainment news stories.

Here's what they said:

One thing I've always wished they could track is teams' use of the Disabled List (along with corresponding entries for the various players on their individual pages).

In trying to keep my 25-man replay rosters straight, I like to know if a player was simply riding the bench, or on the DL.

Besides, injuries often result in other moves, like player purchases or trades.  It would be nice to be able to track how those moves come together.

Some minor bugs (I hope that's all it is) today. hmm

I'm trying to do roster research for my '49 replay, and can't get any results when I try to access players' splits or game logs.

I've been able to find what I use for my research, just took me awhile to figure out where things were.

I like the look and it seems more responsive than before. Plus, I think they optimized it for cell phones which hopefully will make the site more accessible. I have run into a few glitches (e.g., links that do not work), but on the whole I like what they are doing.
