MAZ hits for cycle in early 1964 season replay
Permalink

I am complying the stats for the 1964 season that was being replayed by a buddy of mine.  I found that Bill Mazeroski hit for the cycle in the first game of a twin bill against the New York Mets.  He went 5 for 5 in the game, single homerun, double, triple and single. He scored  5 runs and knocked in 3 to lead the Pirates to a 15-0 drubbing of the Mets in game #1.  Maz led off game #2 of the twin bill with a triple to give him 6 straight hits. The triple knocked in 2 runs but Maz went hitless in his next 4 at bats and the Pirates lost 7-6.  On a side note, Maz made the last out of the inning in his other 4 at bats, stranding 3 runners in the process.
