1973 D&C Replay - My version of a championship league of top 6 teams
Permalink

Thought I would set this up with a bit of history.  I have been playing SOM and APBA for over 40 years, both D&C and computer.  I have always looked in awe at those who have played  full season replays with the complete standings and statistics.  I, however, always seem to run out of steam after 20-30 games into a season.     Then recently I played a tournament of 70's world series teams in a best of 7 format and really loved it, every game seemed to matter.  So I became inspired to try a season again, but this time with some adjustments:

1) Instead of all teams I decided to take just the top 6 - all 4 division winners plus my pick for the next 2

2) Play 12 games vs each opponent , a full season of 60 games.  Four 3 game series , with 2 home and 2 away for all teams. (stole this from 365 which I am currently enjoying my first team )

3) Keep stats current

So here is my recap of my results to date and I will try to update as I play each series .

Also want to add I am working on ways to improve the solitaire D&C experience, specifically : stats keeping, fatigue/player rotation/, AI for managers to allow me to focus on playing one team vs an AI and  potentially streamline X results.

I will post what I have and would love thoughts, feedback and suggestions.

Ok here we go 1973 .... my 6 teams : Oakland, Ny Mets, Baltimore, Cincinnati , LA Dodgers and KC Royals.  I am a big Reds fan so I am intrigued if I can get the Reds to top,  looks tough given A's overall strength and Orioles and Mets pitching.

Thru 15 games

Cin             10  5

Oak             9   6

KC               8    7

LA               7     8

NY               6    9

Balt             5    10

One of the interesting things to watch in a replay like this is who winds up in the cellar, now that all of the usual suspects -- like Texas, or San Diego -- are gone.

My second favorite Cincinnati Reds team (a close second to 1990, I think).

73 update 1.jpg

Played another 6 games in the series and updated standings and stats. For fun I am also parallel running this league on the computer (all AI auto play ) just to compare results.
