As I mentioned in my replay post I am starting a D&C 1973 replay of top 6 teams

Along with this replay I am playing around with ways to streamline and improve the D&C experience

I am wide open to thoughts, suggestions and feedback ( I say that after looking over this forum and finding it enjoyable troll and flamer free :)  )

Here is my score sheet I us for each game, tried to include players and defense on the page

For stat collecting I am currently working with manually combining the stats from each 3 game series then adding those to an excel spreadsheet .

A little awkward but the best way I have found so far. Would love more detail and the ability to capture each game but right now a simple excel spreadsheet seems to be my best solution

How does everyone else collect stats?

We don't allow that nonsense here.......we DO encourage healthy back-and-forths however!!.........

If you look over the guys threads that play C&D, they usually post stats of the hand-written variety.  More then likely those guys will check out this thread and answer the question.

Me?....I am a comp guy, I used to do C&D when I was younger.  I would do the stats every series, mostly the basic offensive/pitching stats, no defensive stuff.  Of course that was back in the day.........

Glad you are posting!

We have a few folks who may chime in on this topic. Since switching to the computer a decade ago (is that possible?) I don't really have anything to offer you on the topic at hand.

I have every intention of keeping this site free from certain problems.

Welcome to the site ScottL

I do stats after every series. I'm also old school, so all my stats are kept and done on notebook paper, with pencil and calculator. Team stats sheets are kept in a 3 ring binder, one for each league. I also use spiral notebooks to record games, one for each team. Make it easier to go back and research if needed.

I post league standings after each set of series are done.

About every 20 games I do a new stat sheet, scan it and post it to share.

I also post the Triple crown categories about halfway through the month of the replay. And at the end of every month I post a complete leaderboard for all of the hitting and pitching
categories I keep track of.

Check out my 1973 replay thread for examples.

Welcome to SOMers, ScottL.

Like SF70, I am a C&D'er who does stats by hand, and have a set of binders full of replays.

I'm playing 56-game short seasons, going through the prior season sets in chronological order.  I finished '48 a while ago and start rolling '50.  Then, SOM released '49, so I put '50 on hold.

I've fallen way behind recently, so it'll be a while before I start posting anything. hmm

Welcome Scott! I play C&D also. I do my stats the same way as you do them. I play 2 series, then do stats and post triple crown leaders. About every 30-50 games, I'll do a full league leader sheet.

Wow.  You do your stats by hand?  That is very impressive, as well as time-consuming, but after using BallStat/BallScore I think it takes about the same amount of time, so that's very cool.

Matt

seajaw,

How did the '48 season turn out for you?  I'm just starting it, and already the walks are off the charts.  Great fun, though.

That's the best way. Start with something short in length, like a short season, then work your way to longer replays.
