Those of you following my Quest for Best thread know that I have been having computer problems as a result of a Microsoft update (KB4020102) that did not take properly. Computer freezes, crashing, etc. So after trying to fix with System Mechanic and Norton, among other tools, I decided to uninstall the update and then my computer would not restart without automatically going into repair mode. Presently, I can only get my computer to launch properly if I disable the early launch anti-malware protection. So somehow the computer is detecting a critical microsoft driver(s) as being malware. I believe this may also be identifying a driver for Strat as being malware and preventing it from starting up. Here's what an article I found online says:

If a driver is classified as malware by Early Launch Anti-Malware Protection because it is malicious or because of a false positive, the driver may not be allowed to load. If this is a necessary driver for Windows to start properly, then we could have a problem where Windows is unable to boot up properly. To protect Windows from a situation like this, Microsoft added a method for you to disable Early Launch Anti-Malware Protection during a boot so that you can resolve your issues by either updating your virus detections or removing the problematic malware driver. Then the next time you reboot your computer, Early Launch Anti-Malware Protection will automatically start again and continue protecting your computer.

The problem is I use Norton and Norton won't startup when I am start the system with the early launch anti-malware protection off.

Any thoughts?? Anybody??

 No, not a member.

O.K., progress made. Almost back to normal. Since the problem was with the early launch anti malware, I decided to uninstall Norton and then reinstall it. Viola! The computer is now rebooting without any problems. Stratomatic is still not working so I will need to reinstall that as well, but other programs seem to be working just fine. Hopefully, I will have time today or tomorrow to get Strat back up.
