Epic bat flip, Joey Bats has nothing on this one

OK, so while cruising the internet after posting the picture of Gary Gaetti in my 1996 blog, I was watching videos of Ozzie Smith's big homer, and Jack Clark's big homer, both off Tom Niedenfuer in the playoffs.

I happened across this little nugget.  It was the 1987 World Series, Game #4.  Tom Lawless was a backup infielder for the Cards who got a start at 3B against the lefty Frank Viola.  For the year, Lawless hit........... .080.  2-for-25.  No rbi's.  Up to that point in his career, Lawless was a .216 career hitter in 384 at bats with one career homer (1984 off Atlanta's Ken Dayley, who would end up being a teammate on the '87 squad).

Now we all remember Jose Bautista's bat flip in the playoffs against the Rangers.  Bautista though, has currently 319 career homers, so for him to execute a bat flip, at least he has some practice going deep.

Lawless however must have been practicing in the tunnel, or BP, or maybe whiffle ball games with his kids, because check this one out........for a guy who just hit his SECOND career homer, it is pretty epic.  Could you imagine if that happened now?....SOMEONE would get drilled in a heartbeat..........
