If you've been around baseball for awhile you will remember this guy.  He pitched for the Cubs and Mets most of his career.  Well in his final season he pitched 38 innings for the Orioles and made 8 starts and tuned an ERA of 7.27.

Well I was going through some of my 2008 season records.  I am thinking of starting to finish my replay all teams.  I only played 40 games per team and finished in 2014.  Well Steve faced the White Sox in the 25th game of my replay and gave up 6 homeruns in 5 2/3 innings in that game.  Paul Konerko hit 3 of them in his first 3 at bats and Joe Crede did the same in his first two at bats. They combined for 5 runs scored and 7 rbi.  Of course, Crede's were solo shots.  Steve Swisher hit the 6th one in Traschels final inning of work.

I recall it being very difficult to get Steve his 38 innings.

Later in his career, his stuff did not play well to the Steroid Era..........didn't he give up McGwire's 62nd?...........

He did.

Interestingly, Trachsel also gave up McGwire's final homers in the two seasons on either side of his 70-home run season of '98.  In 1997, he surrendered #68, and in 1999, he gave up #65.

McGwire was 6-16 (.375) lifetime against Trachsel, with those three home runs.
